Fans Zone focuses on giving their customers a weekend of fun filled fan activities without the worry, they take care of hotel rooms, game tickets, player signings, travel to and from the game, tailgate parties and Saturday night pregame festivities. They are one of many companies that offer these type of fans packages, their competitors are Sports ConXtion, Star Status Sports and others.
Throughout my internship I was blessed to be able and accomplish so much with Fans Zone. I worked diligently on their social media channels such as Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat and email blast. Throughout the internship the Fans Zone Instagram following grew by more than 1,200 followers and generated more than 800 new website visitors. The Fans Zone Facebook page grew by more than 300 page likes and organically reached more than 65,000 people in the month of November. Communication and graphic design were two skills I was able to hone in my time with Fans Zone. I had the pleasure of going to Dallas for an event and was able to meet customers, take photographs and help set up for the events. During the work weeks I completed flyers for various parties, packages and game graphics.
Cynthia Bowen, the owner of Fans Zone was an important relationship that I was able to develop while working at my internship. She showed me how to coordinate an event with over 100 people, create intriguing flyers that captured peoples attention and how to create visually appealing email blast. The most impressive thing to me while working with Fans Zone was the interpersonal skills that Cynthia possessed. She taught me that her line of work was about making friends and connections while making sure that everyone felt included and had a great time. I used multiple classes this semester during my internship. These classes are listed below
- Public Relations Writing / COMM 3245
- Public Relations Strategy / COMM 3246
- Persuasion / COMM 3101
- Intro to Journalism / JOUR 2160
